Johan van Wyk (1951) was born in the quaint little town of Ficksburg nestled at the foot of the Maluti mountains in the eastern Free State South Africa. He now lives in the beautiful city of Cape Town. He is a retired engineering surveyor and has a passion for cooking. He started his career as a mining surveyor and soon branched off into the civil engineering industry as a civil engineering surveyor. His work took him to many places in Africa during which time he started his recipe collection. His books have both metric and imperial measurements. The exact conversion to metric from imperial does not always give convenient working quantities Therefore metric quantities have been given in units of the nearest 25 grams.
